Privacy Policy

Who we are
Georgian Bay Gateway is an independent travel and local discovery guide to Georgian Bay, Ontario. You can reach us about anything in this policy at hello@georgianbaygateway.com.
What we collect
When you sign up on this site we collect:
- your email address,
- which sign-up form you used,
- the date and time you signed up, and
- a reference to the consent wording shown to you, so we have a record of what you agreed to.
This site does not use advertising or analytics cookies, and does not track you across other websites.
How we use it
We use your email address only to send you our launch announcement and The Georgian Bay Weekend, our weekly email about events, places and things to do around Georgian Bay. We do not sell, rent or trade your information.
Unsubscribing
Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link. You can also email hello@georgianbaygateway.com and ask to be removed. We act on unsubscribe requests within 10 business days, as Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation requires, and usually much sooner.
Where your information is stored
Sign-ups are stored in a Google Cloud Firestore database located in Toronto, Canada, operated for us by Google as part of Firebase. Our website is served through Firebase Hosting. Emails are sent through Amazon Simple Email Service, which processes email addresses in the United States. These providers handle your information only to provide their services to us.
When you start typing in a sign-up form, your browser loads Firebase code from Google's servers, which, like any web request, shares your IP address with Google.
How long we keep it
We keep your email address while you are subscribed. When you unsubscribe we delete it within 30 days, keeping only a record that you unsubscribed so we never email you again by mistake.
Your rights
You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing hello@georgianbaygateway.com. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we use your information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. If the change is significant, we will tell subscribers by email before it takes effect.
